Hand Trike & Therapy

Brynlee's hand trike came last Monday, and she loves it! Steering is a little bit tricky for her, but when she wants to go, she goes. We discovered that we need to put her DAFOs on, which are her foot and ankle braces, to help keep her from flexing her foot too far and dragging on the ground, so it is a little bit of an ordeal to get her ready to go, but I have decided that everything will probably just take us longer to get ready to do when it comes to Brynlee.

This past week we also had regular physical therapy and hippotherapy. At physical therapy, Brynlee did the best that she has ever done. I don't remember her crying or even whining at all. For the most part, she did what she was asked to do, and it just felt like a really productive session.
Finally, success!

Hippotherapy (horse therapy) is also still going really well. This last week was a little bit hot, and Brynlee wasn't as talkative and wanted to be done, but she still did great. She asks nearly every day if she can go to horse therapy, so she must be enjoying it.

Otherwise, we finished her first cycle of Accutane on Tuesday, and we have a two-week break until we start the next cycle. Brynlee's skin has been dry and peeling a little bit, similar to a sunburn peel, but it hasn't been too terribly bad. We are still using quite a bit of chapstick on her lips as they are still dry. If this is as bad as it gets with the Accutane treatment, then I think we will be okay with it. Let's hope the next cycle goes as well as this time!
